The Salvation Army Takes Low-Income Students Back-To-School Shopping at Chattanooga Area Wal-Mart!
The Salvation Army and Wal-Mart are joining together to help supply kids with the necessary tools to succeed in the upcoming school year by providing a back-to-school shopping spree on Wednesday, August 6, at the Wal-Mart located on Gunbarrel Road beginning at 8:30 am. Local students in grades K-12 will be accompanied by volunteer chaperones and go shopping to stock up on clothing, backpacks, school supplies and any other necessities for the 2014 school year thanks to a local grant from area Wal-Mart stores.
“The Salvation Army has partnered with Wal-Mart for many years to care for the needs of our community, particularly at at times of disaster and at Christmas,” states Major Algerome Newsome, Salvation Army Chattanooga Area Commander. “We are grateful once again for this partnership; this time it will assist us with preparing children for school.”
