“Smoking for Jesus” Ministry Group Celebrates The Salvation Army Graduates of the East Lake Summer Day Camp!
The Salvation Army welcomes a ministry group, “Smoking for Jesus,” as they hold a celebration for the 34 graduates of the East Lake Corps and Community Center summer day camp on Friday, June 27. The graduation ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a cookout at noon.
The graduation will mark the end of the 2014 summer day camp, a month long camp for children who come from high-risk neighborhoods. The camp provides a safe place for the children to spend their idle time during the summer.
“The Salvation Army of East Lake opens its doors every day after school during the school year, and the summer is no different,” said Capt. Robert Viera. “We provide a safe place for children to have fun, learn about Jesus and just be a kid – something that is often stripped away from kids who live in our inner-cities.”
To congratulate the campers, “Smoking for Jesus,” a men’s ministry that serves food in low-income areas, will provide a barbecue lunch for the graduates and their families.
