The Salvation Army Encourages Black Friday Shoppers to ‘Please Don’t Forget’ the Angels in Need! 2,363 Angels Still Need to be Adopted!
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program Deadline to adopt an Angel is Sunday, December 8. However, there are still 2,363 Angels needing to be adopted! The Salvation Army Angel Tree provides Christmas assistance for needy children, their families and senior citizens who would not otherwise receive gifts including necessities like food and warm clothing.
The local Salvation Army registered 5,445 Angels this year, which is up 14% to last year, and is up 97% over just five years ago. There are 3,082 Angels that have been adopted so far, but the deadline to adopt is twelve days away! Angel Trees are located at Hamilton Place, Northgate, and Bradley Square Malls.
“We are asking the community to be really generous and shop for others this Thanksgiving weekend so all the Angels will be adopted and have a wonderful Christmas,” said Major Teresa Newsome, Associate Area Commander. “We also need those who have adopted Angels to return those gifts as soon as they possibly can.”
Monetary donations are still needed to assist with all Christmas programs, including the Angel Tree Program. Donations can be placed in any of the Red Kettles, mailed to 822 McCallie Avenue, given online at http://www.csarmy.org or by calling 1-800-Sal-Army.
