The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga Expecting to Feed More than 1,000 Hungry Neighbors this Week!
The Salvation Army, with the help of dozens of volunteers, will host the 4th Annual Thanksgiving Eve Community Festival on Wednesday, November 27, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, at 800 McCallie Avenue. The Festival will feature food, games, entertainment and fun.
The Salvation Army will also be delivering meals to homebound neighbors on Thanksgiving Day. The Cleveland Salvation Army will be feeding the public on Thanksgiving Day at The Salvation Army located at 437 Inman Street West, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Last year 428 meals were served at The Thanksgiving Eve Festival and 1,087 were served on Thanksgiving Day between shelter residents, homebound deliveries in Chattanooga and guests at The Salvation Army in Cleveland. The Salvation Army expects the numbers to be close to the same as last year.
“We know people have been seriously affected by the economy over the past few years, yet we are grateful to those generous friends in our community who have provided faithful support for struggling families and individuals,” says Major Al Newsome, Area Commander of The Salvation Army. “But unfortunately, the needs continue to present themselves, and the amount of public support is just not keeping up. We still have 2,432 Angels needing to be adopted and with the cold temperatures hitting so soon, folks are needing blankets, gloves and hats.”
All are welcome to attend the Festival, on Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, at The Salvation Army located at 800 McCallie Avenue and to The Thanksgiving Dinner at The Salvation Army in Cleveland, TN.
