Salvation Army Continues Tornado Response Efforts in Oklahoma

Post courtesy of disaster.salvationarmyusa.org.

The Salvation Army continues to respond to areas affected by a series of tornadoes that occurred this past Sunday and Monday.  Service areas includes Carney, Shawnee, Cleveland County and Moore, Oklahoma.

Since service began on Sunday evening, The Salvation Army has provided 4,420 meals, 5,832 drinks and over 2,500 snacks.  Additionally, emotional and spiritual care has been provided to over 100 persons, including first responders as well as those affected by the tornadoes.

Meals, hydration and emotional and spiritual care are being provided by crews and mobile feeding units from Hot Springs, Jonesboro and Pine Bluff, Arkansas alongside Central Oklahoma Area Command, Ardmore, Enid, Lawton, McAlester, Muskogee, Shawnee and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Salvation Army is ready to provide services for as long as we are needed.  Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.  Please visit disaster.salvationarmyusa.org for more information.

Donors are encouraged to contribute cash.  In-kind donations require sorting, boxing, palletizing, storage and delivery to the disaster location.  All of these activities can be costly and time consuming, and therefore may delay service delivery.  Cash donations allow The Salvation Army to purchase product to quickly and efficiently meet the most urgent needs of disaster victims.  When possible, the purchases are made near the disaster site to stimulate the local economy and ensure quicker delivery.

It is easy to give to The Salvation Army:
