The Salvation Army has been changing lives in Chattanooga for 121 years.  This Friday, July 25, marks the beginning of a new program, which will also change lives.  However, this program is unique in that it involves something so simple: flowers.  Flowers have the power to make people feel remarkably special.

The new ‘Flowers of Hope’ program is a way to make people in our community feel hopeful.  On “Flower Friday,” local Bi-Lo stores will donate flowers that volunteers will create into floral arrangements.  These arrangements will be beacons of hope for those in our community who need encouragement, such as those in nursing homes, homeless outreach facilities, hospitals and more. foh2-edit

“For 121 years, The Salvation Army has been providing hope to the hopeless in the Chattanooga area,” says Major Algerome Newsome, Salvation Army Area Commander. “The Flowers of Hope program provides one more opportunity so we can continue ‘doing the most good’ and bring hope to our community.”

Not only will the recipients of flowers feel uplifted, but so will our volunteers.  This program is a great way to serve the people of this community.  Volunteers will have the opportunity to brighten someone’s day by creating the arrangements and delivering them personally.

The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help on “Flower Days.”  Businesses are welcome to donate flowers to the Flowers of Hope program.  To volunteer or donate, please click here.
